ATLANTA—Georgia State opened its new Center for Student Employment and Support Services April 18 with a ribbon cutting at its location in Student Center East, Suite 303.
The new center will serve as a one-stop shop for student employees and student leaders who might need help with new-hire paperwork, notary services or setting up their direct deposit. The center will also assist with onboarding new hires for student assistants and graduate assistants. The Office of Human Resources shares the space with the Student Engagement business office, which supports student leaders and student organizations with their budgets.
"We recognize that for many of our students, holding a job on campus may be their first job, and we're here to provide extra support" said Ann Williamson, associate vice president of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer. "We will also be able to serve our many international students who may need additional support navigating new processes."
Travis Salley, senior director for Human Capital Management and Records – the unit responsible for the processing all new hires for the university – said that the new Center for Student Employment and Support Services is “focused on students and centered in service.”
The Office of Human Resources will continue to serve faculty, staff and students at their offices on the first floor of One Park Place. The Center for Student Employment and Support Services is for students only.
