
On January 14, 2023, the trumpet studio under the direction of Dr. Alexander Freund, traveled to Berry College to participate in the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast (TFSE). TFSE is an annual regional trumpet festival that brings together students, educators, and trumpet enthusiasts. Events include concerts, masterclasses, new music sessions, and industry vendors. The festival rotates around Southeastern college campuses.
The trumpet studio performed the world premiere of a new work titled "Moonshot" which was written for the students of Georgia State alumnus Ryan Ragsdale.
Dr. Freund states, "As their professor I am very proud of my students for a impactful performance of this new work by my former student Ryan Ragsdale. They represented GSU at the second largest trumpet event in the US with bravour."
With the recording of "Moonshot", the GSU Trumpet Ensemble is proud to announce that it has been accepted into the quarter finals of the National Trumpet Competition NTC, which will take place at the University of Colorado - Boulder, March 25-27. In addition, graduate performance major Victor Atanazio Pires, has been accepted in the quarter finals Solo division.
