Dr. Jennifer Sengin, Associate Director of Choral Activities, and a few graduate students in the choral conducting area (Anneliese Depenthal and Emily Halbert) had the honor of participating in the joint choir at Ebenezer Baptist Church for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Beloved Community Commemorative Service on January 16th. The service featured a lineup of guest speakers who reflected on King’s legacy from the church where the civil rights icon used to pastor. Dr. Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Senator and Reverend Dr. Raphael Wornock, Mayor Andre Dickens, and many others were in attendance.
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this service and to share this experience with some of my students at GSU. This service and Ebenezer Baptist Church are an incredible part of American history; it was surreal to be involved!”
