Cuban-born undergraduate student José Antonio Ayllon Miranda woke up to exciting news as he found out he was awarded first place in the American Protége International Woodwinds and Brass Competition. This competition is designed for solo performers and ensembles of all ages, nationalities and countries, who would like to challenge themselves in a very competitive environment and is open for all wind band instruments.
José will have the opportunity to perform his winning piece in the prestigious Carnegie Hall theater in New York City on June 10, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. “This is something that is dedicated to all my loved ones, those who are always there, those who know how much I sacrifice myself and how much I fight to fulfill a child’s dream” states Miranda.
The School of Music along with the College of the Arts are proud to celebrate José’s recent success and are looking forward to his upcoming performance this summer.
