Emily Baker – Assistant Professor
Emily Baker is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work studies manufacturing industries and honors our industrial past while re-envisioning its future. She investigates the worker’s role in relation to automation, technology, and trade. Before relocating to Atlanta, she was a Lecturer at Rowan University and spent time as the Foundry Studio Artist at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY, a Visual Artist at The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT and was the recipient of a micro-residency at The Steel Yard, in Providence, RI. Nuni Lee – Limited Term Lecturer
Nuni Lee is a practicing artist living in Atlanta. Lee received a B.F.A. in Painting from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and graduated from the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University with an M.F.A. degree in Drawing and Painting, where she previously served as a part-time art instructor. Her work revolves around a central figure, Good Girl, who is the reflection of the artist in an infantile form. She attempts to weave together her past, present, and future by layering her dreams, memories, and everyday life in her paintings. Nuni is the recipient of the 2017 Joseph Perrin Award and the Chandler Award at the Welch School of Art & Design. Read more...

Professor Silva earned his B.A. from Queens College of the City University of New York, and a master’s degree from Pratt Institute where he had the chance to study under the umbrella of some of the best designers there are today. Graham Lea – Limited Term Lecturer
Dr. Graham R. Lea is an art historian trained in late medieval, renaissance, and early modern art of the Low Countries, and he specializes in art and art theory of the Netherlands, 1500-1650. He received a Ph.D. in art history from Emory University and a Ph.D. in art history from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 2022, a J.D. from the University of Memphis in 2012, and a B.A. in art history and classics from Vanderbilt University in 2006. Coorain Devin – Limited Term Lecturer
Born in Australia, Coorain Devin studied at Georgia State University, earning an M.F.A. in Photography, and Tufts University and the School of Museum of Fine Arts, receiving a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.F.A. in Fine Arts respectively. As an interdisciplinary artist, Devin makes performances, photographs, and objects, often textiles, that discuss the joys and horrors of consumer culture. Read more...

Alessandra Bautze – Assistant Professor
Alessandra Bautze holds an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a B.A. in The Writing Seminars and Film & Media Studies from The Johns Hopkins University. Her work seeks to reflect the diversity of the American experience while also embracing a socially conscious, realist approach to narrative. Most recently, her screenplay RACING THE WOLF GOD won Best Screenplay at the 2021 Anchorage International Film Festival, and for the past two years, she has been Visiting Assistant Professor of Screenwriting at The University of Iowa. Melba Williams – Professor of Practice
Melba Williams earned a B.F.A. in Communications from Howard University and an M.A. from the Documentary Film Production program at Stanford University. She taught as a Lecturer in the Media Arts Department at Middle Tennessee State University. An indie filmmaker from Nashville, TN, Williams began her professional career in Washington, DC working in production management at Discovery Communications, Inc. and then as a freelance producer in documentary and reality television in New York. Kristan Woolford – Professor of Practice
Kristan Woolford is a Post Production Professor of Practice with a background in documentary, digital art, advertising, tv, and projection mapping. They focus their work on increasing the digital storytelling capabilities of students and create work at the intersections of Hip Hop culture and social justice movements. Read more...
Arianna Gass – Postdoctoral Research Associate
Arianna Gass is an intermedia artist and scholar whose interests lie at the intersection of digital and embodied play. They explore embodiment from a technical perspective, examining the interface of on-screen and off-screen bodily performance in video games, as well as from a creative perspective, through the production of interactive multimedia performances. Gass completed a B.A. at Vassar College and a Ph.D. in English, Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Chicago. Read more...

Daren Fowler – Limited Term Lecturer
Daren Fowler received their Ph.D. from Georgia State. Their work focuses on the material and lived practices of trans and queer people, and how activists, artists, and organizers build community and survival. Mo Morgan – Limited Term Lecturer
Mo Alexand Morgan graduated from Georgia State University with an M.A. in Communications: Film Production (2020). They worked as a part-time instructor in the School of Communication, Film and Media at the University of West Georgia and as a freelance video editor and production sound mixer. Mo has experience as a documentary and narrative video editor and is an award-winning screenwriter.
They were awarded Best Short Screenplay for the original script “Sight” at the 2019 Nashville Film Festival. Read more...
Jayson Quearry – Limited Term Lecturer
Jayson Quearry recently completed a Ph.D. from the School of Film, Media & Theatre at Georgia State University in August 2021. He e also holds an M.A. in Liberal Studies and a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His research interests focus on the intersections between cinema and comics in terms of aesthetics, adaptation, phenomenology, and intertextual narratives, most recently in his dissertation entitled “Universe Diving: Phenomenologically Feeling the ‘Universeness’ of DC and Marvel Comics.” Read more...

Ben Yonas is a Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated music producer/engineer and artist manager who comes to Atlanta from Memphis, where he was an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Memphis for six years and led Memphis’ High Water Records and Music River Publishing Company. Yonas holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in jazz piano from the University of Michigan, and an M.B.A. from the University of Memphis. Read more...

Brent Milam – Lecturer
Although he completed his graduate studies in chemical physics in 1997, Brent Milam has remained continually active as both performer and composer since 1986. He has taught classical and jazz theory, composition, aural skills, orchestration, arranging, computer music, trumpet, piano and jazz improvisation both privately and for a variety of music schools around the country. Mr. Milam studied composition with P.Q. Phan at the University of Illinois and holds a MM in composition from Georgia State University where he studied with Nickitas Demos. Read more...
Adam Dalton – Professor of Practice
Dr. Adam Dalton is the Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic and oversees all aspects of our athletic band program. Dr. Dalton earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from James Madison University, and a Master of Arts in Music Education and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Alabama. Prior to his appointment to GSU, Dr. Dalton was Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music at Marshall University where he managed comprehensive band program including concert bands, the Marching Thunder, and basketball pep bands. Miaomiao Wang – Academic Professional
Dr. Miaomiao Wang received her Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University, Graduate Diploma from New England Conservatory and Master of Music from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Wang has performed as a soloist and collaborative artist throughout the United States of America and China.
