ATLANTA—Longtime higher education and health care financial administrator L. Jared Abramson will join Georgia State as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer beginning Aug. 1, President M. Brian Blake announced.
Abramson comes to Georgia State from George Washington University where he was vice president for Financial Planning and Operations. At George Washington, he was responsible for creating and maintaining the university’s long-range strategic financial plan as well as the annual operating and capital budgets. He was also responsible for university-wide business intelligence and financial management. Before joining George Washington, Abramson was vice chairman for administration and finance for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami. He previously served as director of strategic planning in the university’s vice provost for research office. Prior to working at the University of Miami, he managed data services for the Association of American Medical Colleges.
“I have seen firsthand how Jared builds bridges, leads through challenges and approaches the work with a data-driven, analytical mind,” Blake said. “I know he will be a terrific addition to Georgia State.”
The new role will concentrate on the intersection between human resources, financial management and facilities with a focus on multiyear strategic resource management. Abramson will oversee these existing three areas in addition to a new unit that will focus on future financial planning and operations.
