ATLANTA – Milind M. Shrikhande, clinical professor of finance at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, has been appointed to the H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr. Professorship for Teaching Excellence in Finance. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved Shrikhande’s appointment on Aug. 31.
Established in 2007, the H. Talmage Dobbs Jr., Professorship for Teaching Excellence in Finance is named for Georgia State alumnus H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr. (B.C.S. ’39), former chairman of the board of Life of Georgia. The professorship supports a holder who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL).
Shrikhande more than meets the criteria as a highly regarded undergraduate and graduate finance teacher recognized for teaching excellence, including selection for the Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program in 2011-2012. He has published extensively in premier SOTL outlets, presented his research widely at academic conferences, is co-editor of the “Journal of Financial Education” and “Advances in Financial Education,” and an editorial board member of the “International Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.” At Robinson, Shrikhande has promoted the advancement of the scholarship of teaching and learning by introducing Robinson’s monthly “First Fridays for SOTL” research seminar series.
“Milind Shrikhande is a superb teacher who is committed to sharing his expertise with others, through research and service here at Georgia State and throughout academia,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College. “His dedication to advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning has made a tremendous impact in countless finance programs around the country and will continue to do so for many years.”
Shrikhande joined Georgia State in 2000 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a doctorate in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
