Robinson College of Business Welcomes New Director of Graduate Career Advancement

ATLANTA – After a nationwide search, Lauren McDow has been named the new director of graduate career advancement at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business.

McDow, an alumna of Georgia State’s College of Education (M.S. ’12), comes to Robinson from Truist (formerly SunTrust), a strong employer-partner of the college. Most recently, she was a career strategist, providing resources for Truist teammates to grow their skills and careers. Previously, McDow managed SunTrust’s university relations team, overseeing the annual sourcing and selection of 300 interns and full-time college hires. She also managed a professional development program at SunTrust for junior talent who completed rotations in finance, risk, human resources, information technology, audit and marketing.

Before joining SunTrust, McDow was a corporate relations manager at her undergraduate alma mater, Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business, where she created career development initiatives for 1,400 undergraduate students. At Scheller, she taught students how to present themselves to employers, take an aggressive approach to career development, and build a portfolio of leadership and work experiences. She also created and oversaw corporate relationships with hundreds of companies for student recruitment.

“Lauren’s leadership will help our graduate students accelerate their careers, and her understanding of our students and what our current and future employer-partners are seeking will be part of the expansion and enhancement of our external relationships and network,” said Jason Aldrich, Robinson’s assistant dean for strategic partnerships and career advancement. “Her outstanding combination of experience in higher education, university relations and talent acquisition is an excellent fit for this role.”

McDow is an alumna of Leadership Georgia’s class of 2016; former president of the Coralwood Foundation (which raises money for an inclusion model preschool that mainly serves developing children and children with disabilities); and founder of the Georgia Tech Campus Closet, a resource for students who cannot afford business attire.
