Researchers in the College of Education & Human Development are accepting presentation proposals for an upcoming professional development schools (PDS) conference through April 2, 2021.
Susan Ogletree, director of the college’s Center for Evaluation and Research Services, Associate Professor Joe Feinberg, retired associate dean Gwen Benson and retired faculty William Curlette will work with colleagues at the University of South Florida, George Mason University and the City University of New York/Queens College to coordinate a three-day conference this fall entitled, “Advancing PDS Research: Exploring a Collaborative National Research Agenda.”
This event, funded by the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) Education Research Conferences Program, will bring together scholars from across the country to discuss research on PDS and school-university partnerships.
“With the support of AERA, we plan to articulate a collaborative, national school-university PDS research agenda,” Ogletree said. “This agenda will provide additional support for the PDS movement in the U.S. and focus on the importance of school-university partnerships for improved student outcomes.”
The conference is scheduled for Sept. 17-19, 2021. Those interested in presenting at the conference must submit the following (along with their preference to present virtually or in-person):
- A current 10-page (or less) curriculum vitae
- A 300-word abstract of the proposed paper/presentation for a plenary session of the conference
- A brief statement of intent (200 words or less) explaining why you want to participate in the conference and/or your career trajectory.
A small group of applicants will be selected to serve as “participants” in the conference and will engage in working seminar sessions, presentations and networking activities.
There are limited spaces to attend this conference virtually. Those interested in attending virtually must fill out and submit this form by April 2 at 6 p.m.; applicants will be notified by e-mail whether or not they are chosen to attend virtually.
