ATLANTA—The Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) at Georgia State University has partnered with software developer Reallusion to establish real-time animation and motion-capture lab software for students and studios.
The Reallusion North American Demo and Training center at the CMII will bring together the Reallusion’s innovative technology in 3D character creation, real-time animation and motion capture with the production facilities and computer labs at the emerging technologies center at the CMII.
The combination of facilities and software will deliver an advantage to students and faculty at CMII, giving them access to tools that enhance existing labs and studios. Reallusion will provide a $250,000 software grant to equip the CMII labs, studios and classrooms with software and assets to build characters and animation for games, virtual production, animation and research projects.
The Reallusion tools will integrate into the curriculum. The CMII will offer three courses to train and teach using Reallusion software.
“We’re excited to announce that the CMII will be the official headquarters for our global training network, the Reallusion North American Demo and Training Center,” said John Martin II, vice president of Reallusion. “We see the CMII as our model educational program offering experience to students and reflecting the importance of teaching real-time technologies in the classroom while offering access to a world-class studio facility.”
Reallusion will connect with Atlanta’s production industry through workshops for professionals and creatives.
“Working together, Reallusion and the CMII are training students using the tools and tactics that are currently moving the industry now,” Martin said. “I’m eager to be a part of the innovation happening at Georgia State University and the CMII.”
“Part of our vision at CMII is to create the next generation of digital storytellers using emerging technology,” said Brennen Dicker, CMII executive director. “Over the past couple of years, CMII and our students have benefited from our evolving relationship with Reallusion. We are excited to embark on this latest chapter that will give our students a competitive advantage in this growing industry.”
