Two Lewis College faculty, Dr. Anne Lorio and Dr. Traci Sims, were named to the Georgia State University Office of the Provost Hall of Fame for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Lorio and Dr. Sims were among the 37 Georgia State employees, faculty and staff, who performed beyond the call of duty during these challenging months adjusting to virtual and partially virtual teaching and operating the university.
Dr. Lorio, a clinical associate professor of physical therapy, experimented with new interactive learning techniques and even studied Doctor of Physical Therapy students' experiences for data on how to improve future online learning. Dr. Traci Sims, clinical associate professor of nursing, provided calm leadership within the nursing faculty as the program switched from traditional in-person to virtual instruction. As the undergraduate program director, she took on the most challenging portion of the nursing curriculum, making the switch, training new, first-time nurses in a robust curriculum without sacrificing the quality of education or development of nursing skills.
