Why did you choose Robinson for your graduate education?
I chose Robinson because of its emphasis on community and hands-on approach to learning. Atlanta has a special place in my heart. After working for a small digital marketing agency that focuses on Atlanta-based businesses, I knew I wanted to enroll in a program that gets its students involved with other great businesses in the area.
How will the degree propel your career goals?
My goal is to work with either a nonprofit or large consulting firm in the Atlanta area as a data scientist. Gaining hands-on training in programming languages as well as working in groups during Insight Sprints will give me a strong foundation to further my goals.
What unique background and perspectives will you bring to classroom discussions?
The cool thing about data science is that it’s not it’s own specific “field.” You can be a data scientist in marketing, hospitality/tourism, finance, etc. With my background in marketing, I’ll be able to bring the perspective from that particular field into application for newly obtained skills.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken is also the best investment I’ve made in myself—applying for this master’s program.
