When you think of jazz at Georgia State, you think of some of our Grammy Award-winning faculty and how much they've influenced our students over the years. It's only natural that many of our alumni and faculty are performing in this year's most significant jazz event in Atlanta, the Atlanta Jazz Festival Sessions. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) created a new program called “Atlanta Jazz Festival Sessions,” which celebrates the 31 Days of Jazz in May and allows Atlanta jazz artists to perform virtually.
The Atlanta Jazz Festival (AJF) is one of the country's largest jazz festivals. In previous years, the AJF partnered with venues all over the city to promote the festival leading up to the main event in Piedmont Park. OCA postponed the 43rd Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival for later this year. Visit atlantajazzfestivals.com for more virtual jazz sessions and updates on the festival.
