ATLANTA—More than 300 members of the Georgia State Panther Band, including alumni, were cast to march and perform in Sunday’s Pepsi Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show featuring three-time Grammy Award-winning band Maroon 5 and contributing musical artists, including Travis Scott and Big Boi.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosted nearly 71,000 people and networks broadcast the performance for millions of fans worldwide as the Panther Band performed in the most watched musical event of the year.
“This has been an incredible experience for the Panther Band and we are honored to be part of this project.” said assistant director of bands Devin Reid. “The day I got to tell the students was incredibly memorable. I called a special meeting of the Panther Band and they had no clue what information I was planning to share with them. When I told them the news that we had been cast to perform in the halftime show, the room erupted with celebration. The field director and staff have been an absolute pleasure to work with. They are amazing at what they do and created a fantastic experience for us. Watching the band perform on the field was truly remarkable, something I’ll remember forever.”
The Pepsi Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show was broadcast on CBS and is an NFL Network production.
