Georgia State University’s Varsity Smite team won the state championships in Smite and Paladins at the 2018 Georgia Esports League Championships. They defeated teams from Kennesaw State, Savannah College of Art and Design, and the University of Georgia. The team won a combined $2000 in scholarship money.

Support: Elizabeth Shuford
Substitute Support: Anthony Hsia
For this event, Anthony Hsia substituted for Elizabeth Shuford.
Esports at Georgia State started this year, and are administered through the Creative Media Industries Institute, which provides Georgia State students with knowledge of advanced technology in media and the arts, giving them skills for successful careers in the entertainment and information industries.
Georgia State has varsity esport teams for the video games Brawlhalla, League of Legends, and Smite. Since there is not a team for Paladins, the Smite team decided to enter both competitions.
Smite is third-person multiplayer online battle arena video game, and Paladins is a hero shooter video game.
