The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce Associate Professor of Philosophy Jessica Berry is the new executive editor of the Journal of Nietzsche Studies.
Founded in 1992, the Journal of Nietzsche Studies is an international journal dedicated to publishing research about German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
The journal’s previous home was City University of New York’s Hunter College. Thanks to Berry’s appointment, the journal will now be housed in Georgia State University’s Philosophy Department.
“The Journal of Nietzsche Studies has become, under its current editorship, the premier venue for Anglophone scholarship on Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophical thought and work,” said Berry. “Taking over the executive editorial role will give me the opportunity to shape and guide the scholarly discussion in the years to come and to work closely with several international societies devoted to the same goal. Moving the journal's editorial home to Georgia State will increase the visibility of the university and enhance the Philosophy Department's existing strength in German philosophy.”
Berry’s work focuses on late 18th to early 20th century German philosophy, with an emphasis on the work of Friedrich Nietzsche. In 2011, she published her book, Nietzsche and the Ancient Skeptical Tradition, which explores Nietzsche’s engagement with Greek skepticism.
