ATLANTA-Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business yesterday (March 29) opened the Delta Student Success Center, which unites three college units focused on ensuring students develop business communication skills, access experiential learning opportunities and connect with businesses for internships and jobs.
On the 12th floor of 55 Park Place NE overlooking Woodruff Park, the Delta Student Success Center was made possible by a $2 million grant from The Delta Air Lines Foundation. It houses Robinson’s Career Advancement Center, Office of Undergraduate Academic Advisement and Office of Signature Programs.
“The college’s vision is ‘No One Gets Closer to Business than Robinson,’ and the Delta Student Success Center physically embodies that statement by bringing together students, alumni and faculty with members of the business community to prepare our students to innovate, create, lead and add value from the start of their careers,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College.
“Giving back to the communities where Delta people live, work and serve is at the core of our values,” said Tad Hutcheson, senior vice president of The Delta Air Lines Foundation. “The Delta Air Lines Foundation has a long history of serving communities, and we are proud to help advance the mission of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business through the Delta Student Success Center.”
The components of the Delta Student Success Center exemplify many of the elements that make Georgia State synonymous with academic innovation.
Robinson’s Office of Undergraduate Academic Advisement uses Georgia State’s pioneering analytics-based advisement system to help students achieve academic success at rates widely regarded as exceeding national expectations. Its Career Advancement Center takes the lead in securing external partners for the immersive experiential learning opportunities that are a key initiative in the college’s strategic plan. And its Office of Signature Programs offers unique experiential programs, including the Panther Accelerated Consulting Experience and WomenLead courses, the Panthers on Wall Street, Panthers in the Valley and Panthers in D.C. city immersion programs for students.
“We are profoundly grateful to The Delta Air Lines Foundation for their generosity,” Phillips said. “This facility is a tremendous step forward for Robinson as we build the business school of the future.”
The Delta Air Lines Foundation is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1968 to enhance Delta’s charitable giving. It is focused on the key areas of education and health and wellness.
