ATLANTA – Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Georgia State University have announced the creation of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hospitality Scholarship, a $100,000 endowment to provide opportunity for young leaders pursuing degrees in hospitality.
The scholarship has been established through a partnership with Hyatt Regency Atlanta and the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration in Georgia State’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business as part of the hotel’s 50th anniversary celebration in May 2017.
Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Hyatt Corp. and the Hyatt Hotels Foundation are donating the $100,000 endowment, which will fund the scholarship in perpetuity. The School of Hospitality Administration will select recipients each year based on academic achievement and other criteria.
Halle Neeley, a rising junior from Atlanta, will be the scholarship’s inaugural recipient. Hyatt Regency Atlanta will honor Neeley at its 50th anniversary celebration on May 2.
“We are honored to partner with Georgia State University to create this enduring gift for Halle and future young leaders in our community,” said Peter McMahon, general manager of Hyatt Regency Atlanta.
“Our hotel’s purpose is ‘We care for people so they can be their best,’ which means caring for our associates, our guests and our community. This gift is an extension of that commitment, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 50th birthday.”
“We are enormously grateful for this generous gift from our friends and neighbors at Hyatt,” said Robinson College Dean Richard Phillips. “This scholarship will allow promising students to achieve their educational goals and help develop new leaders in our community and the hospitality industry for years to come.”
The Robinson College of Business is a community of students, educators, and professionals who specialize in discovering insights that drive smarter business decisions.
