Georgia State University has three student startup groups in the top 64 for the Student Startup Madness competition. The three Georgia State groups are:
- Prepspire led by Lexi Newhouse
- Soundcollide led by Robert Hatcher
- Timbre led by Quentin Paden.
The final 64 also includes teams from Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford Universities, among others.
The collaboration between Georgia State and Student Startup Madness began four years ago, and Georgia State continues to be Southeast regional host.
Student Startup Madness is a nationwide competition for college students who have started digital media startup companies. All startup teams must be digital media ventures and a current college student must own at least 30%, with a college advisor listed. At Georgia State, the Creative Media Industries Institute is the hub for competition activity.
The competition is tournament style. The top eight teams will go to the “Entrepreneurial Eight” national finals, held at South By Southwest Interactive in March.
